Facts and Vision
FPA is an online Academy since 2007 with a vision for the future, to find a suitable location in Europe and to build an interdisciplinary institution that reflects FPA’s standing commitment to dialogue and to the Search of the human person in relation to the divine presence. FPA will promote research and scholarly exchange across fields and is especially committed to supporting the activities of searchers, scholars and students whose work transcends departmental boundaries. A number of FPA’s interdisciplinary academic and spiritual programs, graduate and undergraduate, will be housed here. Beyond this, the Flow of Presence Academy is and will be the home of a broad-based intellectual and spiritual community defined by a distinguished fellowship that has its origin in the Ancient vision of collegiality, going back to Greek Philosophy, Celtic Monasticism and early Judeo-Christianity.
A future aim would be to meet on a regular basis, as well as to organise wide array of events, from international symposia and lectures that bring prominent visitors to the Academy to small “working groups” that meet regularly for the free and informal exchange of ideas among scholars, students and artists on topics of more than disciplinary interest.
Since Judaism, Christianity and Islam are known as the religions of the ‘One God’ and ‘The Book’, FPA encourages its members to research, study and meditate on these sacred texts. Besides philosophical and religious education, possibilities are created for artists to expand their vision and talents with a wide range of expression in groundbreaking exhibitions that display the historical, rare and precious areas concerning these sacred texts and their religious foundation.
FPA is also a place where great people meet great music. In other words there will be a department of music. The goal of FPA Music Education is to educate students to be sensitively and critically aware, community oriented and reflective persons who are professionally prepared to be transformative leaders in the dialogue of music.
The Flow of Presence Academy already appeals to the general public interested in Philosophy, Theology, Spirituality, Judaism, History (WW II, Holocaust), Art, autobiography and mysticism and specialists and groups interested in the following areas: Voegelin and Hillesum Studies; Philosophy and Theology; Political sciences; Spirituality; Religious Studies; Mysticism; Judaism; History (WW II, Holocaust); Psychology; Women’s and Gender Studies; Human Development and Family Studies; Sociology; Peace Studies; Creative Writing.
Finally, to accomplish FPA’s vision of philosophical and inter-religious dialogue, we seek to be people who exemplify this goal. We invite searchers, students and scholars who identify with our goal and have potential to achieve it. Within the FPA, we develop a safe, caring, and nurturing environment, which will help to built healthy relationships of respect and mutual understanding. Our members create and encourage educative experiences that contribute to and require evidence of our goal. We hope to actively engage with contemporary issues and trends in intellectual, spiritual and psychological education on a local, national, and international level.
